San Francisco's Gay Pride Celebrations

Naturally, being the outspoken supporter of civil freedom that I am, and being so close to Market Street, I would be remiss in my duties were I not to give my faithful readers a little peek of the Gay Pride Celebrations in San Francisco.

Because Proposition 8, a sneaky ballot bill designed to quash the gay marriage movement in California, was pushed through by a bunch of activist, right-wing religious fanatics, an unprecedented number of people showed up to support the basic human right of people to marry whomever they choose. Here is a great source for news and stories related to this important social issue: The Gay Boomer Post, and their blog: gay boomers and the middle aged queer. As one friend of mine once said, "Why shouldn't gay people have the right to be just as miserable as everybody else?"

I hope you enjoy the photos!

  1. David, thanks for commenting on my blog. I wrote an article awhile back on just how same-gender couples' lack of marriage rights violates the Bill of Rights. I hope you'll come back to "Being the Change I Wish to See" and read the article "U.S. not really about equality". It's on the site map under the civil rights and justice category. I'd leave a link but I can't seem to paste it here.

If civil rights for people of color were put up to a vote by the masses, there are still states in the south that would relegate people of color to second class status. Civil rights should never be put up to popular vote. The masses don't have the right to deny rights guaranteed in the 14th Amendment to each individual. Proposition 8 violates the U.S. Constitution 14th Amendment.
