This guy opened a restaurant with robot waiters:

Here is the link: ROBOT WAITERS

He eventually plans to replace his cooks with robots too. Maybe our society is going through growing more and more people become unemployed, the automated workplaces continue to grow. Companies are running with constantly shrinking staffs--When is the last time you called your bank and got a human on the phone? We need humans on the phone!  Some would say it is a shame to put humans out of work, but I think it is a good thing (as long as it isn't a phone operator position). Why shouldn't we finally start to allow our technology to work for us? Why shouldn't we allow each and every human to benefit from the resources we have been squandering in name of greed? Why shouldn't we allow our technology to set people free, instead of using it to control a displaced work force for the benefit if the super-wealthy?

Maybe companies will start hiring people for jobs where we really want to deal with a humans and start leaving the crap jobs for robots--it's about time, I say! I hated being a waiter! Now, I understand that some people may enjoy waiting tables, and I am sure the demand for human waiters will still be there for those who want to do the job and those who like to receive the service of another human being. And, maybe they will start to be compensated in a way that is more appropriate for what has been called one of the most stressful professions that a person can have.

In my opinion, there is no reason why we shouldn't all be living like kings with the technology we have...too many greedy people have been screwing the poor and enjoying the fruits of their labor! People shouldn't have to do menial tasks anymore unless they want to, and if they do, they should be compensated fairly.

One would probably have to be stupid to buy this book, but it is not always a bad idea to know what kind of twisted reasoning the right is using to come to their bizarre philosophical conclusions...

The intelligent know that as the Earth's population continues to grow exponentially, an era of chaos is inevitable. Within a few short generations there will not be enough resources (food) to support the human race. The masses will do whatever they can to survive--looting and killing each other for food. Educated and intelligent people who are now in control of most of the Earth's wealth are doing what they can to take whatever they can, before it is too late! They are fortifying their castles, turning their mansions into fortresses, and buying weapons and armaments to defend their wealth. They are prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure that their families won't suffer--making sure that their bloodlines will continue no matter who they have to trample on to be certain. One wonders who is more it they poor who act out of the purity and innocence of nature, or the wealthy, who act out of greed and cunning? Is this is the natural order of things? What will be the outcome of it all?

THE CLASH, one of my very favorite bands, released the album SANDINISTA, on December 12, 1980. They had the ability to make political statements that were at the same time very entertaining and listenable. The message of this song is just as true today as it was when it was made. Why do people continue to believe the lies they are fed by the American War Machine?

When you are watching the news on television, try to read between the lines and figure out the real reason why the particular story you are seeing has been chosen for air-time. News shows make their money the same way any other television program does--through advertising dollars. They are trying to sell you something indirectly. There are great forces at work behind every story you are fed.

For example, that is why we heard nothing about what a terrible man Saddam Hussein was, back when the U.S. set him up as the leader of Iraq. It wasn't until he stopped doing what he was told by his masters in the United States and Great Britian that we started to hear stories about how he was violating human rights, killing his own people, etc.

That is why I love the internet. It allows people to share stories more freely and with less corporate and political interference from the powers that be.

From my observations in Golden Gate Park, the original ideals of the hippie movement have been lost to most of the people you find there today. Instead of peace, love and sharing, I found many of the people who I met down there to be belligerent, selfish and ignorant. This old documentary features an interview with some of the original members of The Grateful Dead, and includes footage of a free concert which they gave at Hippy Hill. In the interview the band talks about some of their ideals and their hopes for a brighter future. Implicit is the hope of ending war by enlightening people with LSD, music and love. You can see a more contemporary video of the Hippy Hill area of Golden Gate Park, which I filmed myself on April 20, 2010, at the annual 420 celebration by clicking this link: 420 AT HIPPIE HILL. In my video a popular band performs near the hill; their message echoes that of The Grateful Dead, but I fear that their positive message is lost to most of the crowd.

I was sorry to find that the original hippie culture I was brought up in has degenerated to such a pathetic and hopeless state in the area where it had its beginnings. If we can't derive hope from our subculture then where will the change we so desperately need come from? Certainly not our mainstream society, which is far more preoccupied with religious intolerance, war and greed.

I welcome any comments below.

The freedom to marry whom one chooses should be considered one of the most basic an inaliable human rights. When will people stop trying to control others and just let each other be?

I always love to get comments on my work. Please feel free to speak your mind; click below to leave a comment.

I'm not gay, but I do think it should go without saying that a person should be allowed to marry whomever they choose. Until the right-wing, religious fanatics in this country stop trying to control everybody else and force their “morals” down the throat of the country, there can be no real freedom in the United States. Civil rights cannot simply be "voted away," that is the purpose of the Bill of Rights. In my opinion, religious activists should be left out of these decisions completely. I invite you to my web pages devoted to raising awareness on this puritan attack on our freedom:

I don't see how that is really possible, since he is dead. Oscar Grant was shot to death in an altercation with police in a BART station, in Oakland. The trial of the officer accused of wrongfully shooting him is already in progress; the officer says he drew his fire-arm accidentally while he was reaching for his Tazer to use on the victim. I filmed this demonstration a couple of months ago just before the trial got started. This is the first part of the three-part series:

I spend a lot of time burning on the military and our current foreign policies. This Memorial Day weekend, I would like to pay my respect to those members of our military who have put themselves in harms way to protect the innocent and those who cannot defend themselves. I do recognize that there have been in the past, as there will be in the future, times when force is necessary and just. Those who put their own lives on the line for a truly just and noble cause, deserve great respect and gratitude.

When people ask me, "Do you support our troops?" I say yes, of course, I support our troops like I support every human being. That doesn't mean, and shouldn't be translated to mean, that I support every action they take part in under our flag. For in my mind, blind patriotism is exactly what our founding fathers were fighting against.

Let us not forget that the original freedom fighters of the American Revolution were considered to be terrorists by the British Crown, against which they rebelled. The nobility of their sacrifice is even greater in my mind, because in addition to protecting their families and loved ones (which I hope any able bodied man would do) they fought for a principle. The principle of the freedom from tyranny imposed by an unjust government.

This video is both amazing and frightening. One wonders what kind of damage was done to the roof of the house these people were in. As global warming increases rapidly, the weather all over the world is changing in drastic and alarming ways. I would love to hear what you think about this...there is a comment form below this entry.

Marijuana prohibition has been a total failure and is perhaps this country's greatest mistake. Not only has it created criminals out of nearly a third of the country's populace, it costs our society billions of dollars every year, creates a strain on our prison system, and has little or no effect on marijuana use in the US. In some cases, prosecuting marijuana use has turned non-violent, middle class kids into violent and unpredictable, career criminals. Once a person has a criminal conviction on their record, they are far less likely to find a good job and become a useful member of society. Other countries with more liberal drug laws have much lower rates of drug addiction among their people.

Every year on April 20, people gather in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park and exercise their right to peacefully assemble and protest the U.S.'s unfair prohibition of marijuna. This video clip captures the peak of the event at 4:20 pm when the entire crowd "sparked up" together:

This eruption in Iceland has interrupted air traffic for millions of people in Northern Europe, and could continue for weeks according to scientists.

Could this eruption be part of a chain of recent geological events resulting from man made global warming?

Regardless of the causes, in my opinion, we should take emergency measures to halt our dumping of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Demonstrations At SFSU

I got a tip off of a demonstration down at San Francisco State University, so I headed down to cover the event. I was shocked to see police and students clashing with each other so violently. In my opinion these police officers were interfering with these kids' right to demonstrate peacefully. I don't even care what they were demonstrating about, I just love to see real Americans exercising their right to self expression. Check it out!

The Great Slack Session (video)

Out of work? Try not to stress out too much, you never really needed a job anyway. Try to use this time to do the things you never had time to do before: Take a trip (even if you have to hitchhike). Start an art project. Get that Mohawk you always wanted but were afraid would interfere with your career. This is a great time to write a book. Get laid! Do something dammit! Life is short and you have been wasting your time making other people wealthy with your own blood, sweat, and tears.

Maybe this is a good time to try to learn how to make your computer work for you. Can you write? I actually earn money just by putting stuff up on the internet. Click on the little box if you would like to give it a try:

Smokeless Cigarette New Technological Breakthrough?

I thought this was pretty neat! I sure wish they had those back when I was quitting smoking...

I gave up cigarettes back in 2003 and I am pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke now. When a friend of mine who was visiting took out one of these devices and started pulling away at it in my apartment, I was pleasantly surprised to learn I couldn't detect any smell at all. He said he was very happy that it didn't threaten his health like regular cigarettes, and in fact he didn't miss smoking at all!

If you are interested in getting a smokeless cigarette for yourself or learning more about these new products, below are some good options:

Experiments With LSD in the Czechoslavic People's Army

This is a great piece of Cold War history--these army officers on LSD clearly cannot perform the essential duties  for killing people.  No wonder the government and military establishment was so terrified of the drug at the time.

While I know people can have a lot of fun with acid, I do think it should be used with great caution. Although it has been used by some as a tool for spiritual, intellectual, and or artistic personal development, in my opinion it can be extremely dangerous to those who may have suffered psychological trauma or stress. People who already feel uncomfortable with themselves or their peers should be especially careful.
